social enterprise visit programme

Raising awareness in the South East...

Working collaboratively the se² partnership has supported the region's strategy of enhancing social enterprise business support activity and raising the awareness and profile of the sector in the South East region.

This has been achieved through a number of initiatives, one particularly successful one being the Social Enterprise Visit programme.

In response to a real need across the region to continue raising the profile of the social enterprise sector with infrastructure support organisations, partners, agencies, Local Authority procurers and commissioners, local policy influencers, Business Link teams, etc, the se² partnership has been tackling this by delivering a series of Social Enterprise Visits across the South East.

The aim is to increase the knowledge and understanding of the sector and enable key partners to understand the needs of social enterprises, which may ultimately help influence policy and decisions made at a local and regional level.

The visits were a huge success, attracting nearly 200 organisations and feedback has been really encouraging:

"I now have a better understanding of what a social enterprise is, how they contribute to the local, regional and national picture and how passionate the people are involved with them - very inspiring!"

"I now understand that a profitable business can be also be a social enterprise!"

I am so surprised at the sheer range and diversity of social enterprises – much wider than I originally thought.  Has really made me open my eyes…"
